Cool Ways to Save on Summer Energy Bills

Saving on energy bills this summer doesn’t have to mean sweating it out. Instead, think vampires, solar clothes dryers and ice cream.
Dana Dratch, writing for Bankrate.com offers 5 Ways to Slice Summer Energy Bills, while keeping stress low and family fun high. Vampire energy is power that is always on – even in small bits. Home appliances and electronics are prime examples. A quick fix to reduce their power-zapping capabilities is to simply plug them into surge protectors overnight. Just flick the surge protector off when the vampires are not in use. Wash clothes in cold water, and instead of throwing them in an energy-sucking dryer, hang them on a solar clothes dryer – or what grandma called a clothes line! For family fun, turn off the TV, get away from the computer games and sit outside with ice cream or lemonade. Enjoy spending time together, without all the energy-draining artificial stimulation.
